À l’initiative d’Ismail Omar Guelleh, président de la République de Djibouti, les dirigeants de la région :
– Abiy Ahmed Ali, Premier ministre d’Éthiopie,
– Mohamed Abdillahi Mohamed Farmaajo, président de la Somalie,
– Moussa Bihi Abdi, président du Somaliland,
ont participé à une rencontre à Djibouti le 14 juin 2020, afin d’aider les dirigeants de la Somalie et du Somaliland à reprendre le dialogue sur les relations entre les deux pays.

Les dirigeants reconnaissent l’importance du rôle de Djibouti dans la construction et le rétablissement de la paix dans la région.
Avant cet événement historique, plusieurs négociations dans le passé n’ont permis que de faibles progrès.
Le président de la Somalie et le président du Somaliland ont convenu qu’un comité technique, composé de membres issus des deux délégations, reprenne les discussions entre les deux parties et assure le suivi des questions en suspens ayant déjà fait l’objet d’un accord.
Les deux parties ont convenu de ne pas politiser l’aide au développement et les investissements.
Le sommet a proposé Djibouti comme lieu de ces réunions techniques.
Il est primordial que les intérêts des deux peuples restent au centre du processus.
Le sommet demande instamment à toutes les organisations régionales, continentales et internationales d’apporter leur soutien à ce processus.

Upon the initiative of HE Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of the Republic of Djibouti, the leaders of the region :
– HE Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of Ethiopia,
– HE Mohamed Abdillahi Mohamed Farmaajo, President of Somalia,
– HE Moussa Bihi Abdi, President of Somaliland,
held a consultative summit meeting in Djibouti on June 14th 2020, in order to help the two leaders from Somalie and Somaliland to resume dialogie on the relationships between the two countries.
The leaders recognize the importance of Djibouti’s role in peace building and peace making in the region. Prior to this historic event, several rounds of negotiations were undertaken in the past with little progress.
The Président of Somalia and the President of Somaliland have come to an understanding that a technical committee comprise of members of the two delegations will resume the talks between the two sides and also follow up the pending issues already agreed upton.
The two parties agreed not to politicize development assistance and investment.
The summit proposed Djibouti as the venue of these technical meeting.
It is a paramount that the two peoples interests remain at the center of the process.
The summit urges all regional, continental and international organizations to bring their support to this process.
